Mammography Viewer and ImageGrid PACS ApplianceA web based Mammography viewer expands the capabilities of the Candelis ImageGridTM Mammography PACS Appliance. The enhanced ImageGrid™ Mammography Web Viewer (IG MammoViewer) serves as a built in mammography viewer and a web-enabled application residing on the ImageGrid PACS appliance. The mammo viewer delivers the capabilities of a fully-featured PACS mammography workstation by allowing physicians to view mammography studies from any pacs workstations on a Local Area Network, Wide Area Network or remote workstations via a Virtual Private Network connection. Mammography viewers such as the ImageGrid Web Viewer are ideal for use in viewing CT, MRI and Ultrasound studies. Digital mammography with the ImageGrid Mammography Web Viewer enables imaging facilities to securely share medical data and images with their network of referring physicians and other remote-location users. Web based mammography machines offer the benefits of save valuable time for radiologists and providing the flexibility to complete diagnostic reads from virtually anywhere. In order to comply with HIPAA requirements, user management and authorization level controls are established on the ImageGrid PACS Appliance by the system administrator. By giving review access to referring physicians, imaging facilities can strengthen the relationships that are vital to the growth of their practice while improving communication and patient care. ImageGrid Mammography Web Viewers use the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard and were developed for use in mammography labs in response to the need for an appliance to work seamlessly with current ImageGrid PACs systems. The ImageGrid web viewer provides easy access to the server from remote locations for radiologists via a secure connection over the Internet. By eliminating the need for extra software, this design helps to lower the cost of the system and creates an affordable PACS solution. The ImageGrid Mammography Web Viewer incorporates many of the standard features that come with a PACS viewer, including integration with mammography Computer Aided Detection (CAD), Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BIRADS) capabilities, the ability to view multiple studies side-by-side, image processing, measurement and viewing tools, quick retrieval of large studies, and the ability to export studies and perform DICOM printing, according to Candelis. The system also has Cine Tool, a feature that allows users to view successive images in loop or shuffle mode.
